Young Warriors - Junior Class
This class is a program that has been designed specifically for children of Primary School age (5/6 - 12/13 years old).
The program combines Self-Defence training, Martial Arts etiquette, physical exercise and ethical philosophy (based on the traditions of the Samurai). Parents enjoy the changes observed in their children and we have been complimented many times on the holistic nature of this well-rounded education in Martial Arts.
The approach is dynamic and progressive, with each child progressing at an individual rate. The stress is on continuous improvement and the development of a strong 'Warrior Spirit' rather than on competition with other students or teh strong feelings often associated with grade progression.
The students are exposed to all elements of Fudoshin training in a supportive and encouraging environment where they learn about their own limitations and mature ways to manage both their feelings and attitudes.
Senior Class
This class is for those who are 13 years and older in age. It takes a holistic approach to teaching the principles and training methods of the Japanese warrior.
Bujutsu simply means Martial Sciences/Methods and is a complete study in traditional Japanese combat. The Bujutsu syllabus consists of complete studies in Judo, Jujutsu, Karate, Aikido and Weaponry.
The classes are always different and progression is based on a syllabus that encompasses all of the above as part of an overall training and development process.
There is no distinction between higher grades and lower grades, the philosophy being that everyone trains together and mutually supports and pushes one another. In the same fashion, focus is more on general progression and developing a strong and formidable spirit. This is the core of Fudoshin training. Fun & Fitness
A Warrior Fitness program
This class is an energetic combination of the exercise and physical fitness-based elements of Martial Arts. It is stressed that this class does NOT teach self-defence or combat of any kind, but is more focused on the physical development side of Martial Arts training.
A demanding and physically gruelling workout, it strikes a delicate balance between the elements of: cardio vascular training (aerobic), strength training, endurance, co-ordination, flexibility, breathing and meditation. This class has something to offer and push anyone who is serious about their fitness training.
Whether you are a beginner to weight-loss and fitness training, or a seasoned fitness guru, you will be pushed to your limits in an ironically social and light-hearted atmosphere. Click here to read a review on the Martial Fitness class at the Yamagawa Dojo.
